The fact remains, homophobia is alive and well in health care settings around the world, leaving thousands of LGBT individuals either unable to unwilling to be completely open and honest with health care providers, often to the detriment of their health and wellness.
The purpose and goal for ShoutOutHealth.com is to provide a safe haven for any LGBT people who are interested in access to empowering, up to date, uplifting and informative health and wellness information in a safe, anonymous forum, from health care providers, writers and other professionals who care about promoting LGBT health.

Sarah Albert: Ms. Albert is the founding editor of GayHealth.com, launching the original site in 2000 as the only site dedicated to the health and wellness of the LGBT community. Albert is the former editor of Issues in Patient Care, a monthly HIV and diabetes publication that she helped launch in 1998. Albert was also the executive editor of the trade pharmaceutical publication American Druggist. She has written for numerous print and online publications including Medical Tribune, Celebrity Style, HX, Music Choice, Jump magazine and ZapHealth.com. Albert also has a Masters is Social Work and is a practicing therapist in Massachusetts.

Joy Zurzolo: Zurzolo has been the Director of Sales for the site since it launched in 2000, creating dynamic and successful partnerships with a wide variety of sponsors and advertisers in that time. Joy set the marketing and advertising strategy for the site, launching custom sponsorship programs and the “Be Positive –Stay Negative” campaign that targeted young adults in communities of color at high risk for HIV infection that was endorsed by then Senator Hilary Rodham Clinton. Many of Zurzolo’s campaign initiatives received media attention. Zurzolo has excelled in the pharmaceutical and medical device sales arena during the past 15 years, working as the Ad Director for high profile publications such as AIDS Patient Care and STD’s and American Druggist. Working with clients to design seamlessly integrated programs is one of her many passions. She looks forward to speaking with you about implementing an interactive campaign that sizzles.

MEDICAL CONSULTANTS
Susan Ball, M.D., M.P.H.: Ball is the assistant director of the Birnbaum Unit HIV Care Center at New York Presbyterian Hospital. She is an associate professor at Cornell University's Wiell Medical College and a regular columnist for The AIDS Reader. She has published numerous articles related to HIV care. Dr. Ball is at the forefront of gay and lesbian health. She resides in New York City with her partner and their two sons.
Bryan McColgan, M.D.: McColgan is a resident physician in internal medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons and his bachelors in biological sciences from Stanford University. A former United States Fulbright Fellow in Zimbabwe, he has conducted research in HIV, interned for the World Health Organization in Geneva, and worked with the medical unit of the CBS Evening News. He is most passionate about LGBT health, global health, and the combination of medicine & media.
Magda Sobieszczyk, MD, MPH: Sobieszczyk is an Infectious Disease Specialist at Columbia University and a director of the HIV Vaccine Trials Unit at Columbia. She completed her fellowship training at Columbia and has been taking care of HIV-positive patients as well as conducting HIV-prevention research.
Greg Cason, PhD: Cason is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Los Angeles specializing in issues pertaining to gay men and couples. He is also the Director of Doctoral Training at the South California Counseling Center; Clinical Adjunct Faculty at the UCLA School of Medicine; and Adjunct Faculty at the California Graduate Institute. He earned his Ph.D. from University of Houston, did his internship training at The University of Texas at Austin, and did a post-doctoral fellowship in HIV Mental Health at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
